I-Scream, U-Scream, We All Scream 4 Ice Cream!

Jennifer teaches kindergarden and they celebrated their last day of school with an ice cream party, and guess who got to take all the left overs home?! Jennifer decided she had too much ice cream goodness for just her and Patrick so they brought all the goodies over to the house and we all dug in! There's nothing better than an ice cream sundae, yummmmm!

Toppings!

And more toppings!

How good does that look?

Thanks Jennifer & Patrick the ice cream....great idea!

Okay, so maybe we're not in the same category as the greats....but we have a lot of fun on the golf course! Josh and I both started playing golf after we got married. He has improved quite a bit since then....I still have a ways to go. It is by far the most challenging game I've ever attempted. It is frustrating and hard and I am no good most of the time, but it only takes one good hit and you're hooked! Dad, Billy, Josh & I decided to play a round of golf Memorial Weekend and we talked Mom and Lesha into going with us. It was so much fun! Here are some pictures from the day.

Wild Wild Weekend

Josh and I were super busy this past weekend! There were carnivals, new friends, old friends, family, lots of food of course, and last but not least....Alan Jackson!!

FRIDAY: Josh had to work the May Daze carnival in Blanchard Friday night, so Jennifer, Patrick, and I had to go check out the festivities. There were craft booths set up and yummy fair food! I got to meet some of Josh's co-workers and we all had dinner together before we left.

SATURDAY: Josh's mom, sister, brother, and niece were in town so we spent Saturday afternoon together at his grandpa's house. Then we all had lunch together. Unfortunately, we don't get to see them very often so it was great to get to spend some time together. Here are a few pics from Saturday's lunch.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Saturday night, Patrick, Jennifer, Josh, and I went to see Alan Jackson and Josh Turner at the Zoo Ampitheater!! Alan Jackson is one of Josh's all time favorite singers (2nd to George Strait), so as soon as I heard he was coming to OKC, I knew we had to go! Patrick's birthday was April 1st, so we decided to take him and Jennifer with us to the concert for his birthday. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The Zoo Ampitheater is one of our favorite venues for concerts, we just love the outdoor open seating....it almost felt like we were in our own backyard listening to Alan Jackson! I have to say, we had a blast! Here are some pics we want to share from an unforgetable night!

Josh & I gettin' the party started!

They're probably going to kill me for this one.....Jennifer & Patrick sharing a turkey leg, so romantic! : )

Opening Act: Josh Turner! He has an amazing voice....girls you know what I'm talkin' about! ; )

Here's the man.......Alan Jackson!!

Patrick & Jenn, such a cute couple!

The best concert pic I've ever taken, I love my new camera!

SUNDAY: Patti, Lindsey, Allison, Patrick, and Jennifer all came over to my parents for brunch before they left town. We had an egg quiche, bacon, cinnamon rolls, and fruit salad. It was awesome! Thanks mom for a wonderful treat!! The weather was great, so we decided to eat outside....also worked out good, so Allison could run off some of her never-ending energy. : )

Rusty made a new friend, which is really odd cause he doesn't make friends very easily.
This is Lucky, Lindsey's dog.

Can You Feel The Love Tonight

Josh and I went to see the broadway musical The Lion King last weekend! Josh had never seen the movie before, so we spent Friday night watching the movie that way he'd be up to speed when it came time for the play. We had Saturday all mapped out, we would look at some houses that morning then get dressed up and head to bricktown for dinner and the play. Well, we had a pretty busy morning and neither one of us remembered to get any cash out for the evening (neither one of us carry cash very often, we rely on debit card mostly).......so when we show up at bricktown, we have no cash to park! We ended up driving around bricktown looking for an ATM for so long that we had no time for dinner! And I was starving cause I had a light lunch in anticipation for a big steak dinner that night. We ended up having a fun night though....we made a midnight stop at Taco Bell for some "steak" quesadillas since we missed out on our real steaks. Moral of the story: things can be fun, even when they don't go as planned!

We don't get dressed up too often, so we had to take a few pics before we left!

The Past Few Months....

So, just to catch up on the past few months.........

Josh is no longer in the Air Force, after giving the country 8 years of his life. We knew when he got deployed that it wasn't something we wanted to face again, especially after we start our family. So, we have been planning and waiting for this day for what seems like forever! Things are finally starting to come together, and I can actually see a glimpse of where we really want our lives to be. Josh started his terminal leave a little early so that he could start a new job with the Blanchard Police Dept. He started there in January, and I stayed behind in Altus to continue working until I could find a job. Three very long months later, I landed a job at OU! I absolutely love my job so far! I am so excited that I got the chance to stay in higher education and even more specifically, in financial aid. So....Josh had been staying with my parents waiting for me to join him, and what do ya know?....He leaves for CLEET certification school in Ada the week after I finally get to move, and he will be there for 3 months! So, now I am staying with the parents while Josh is in Ada, and in the meantime we've been looking for houses. He does get to come home on the weekends, so we spend most of that time doing research for houses to look at.

Well, that pretty much sums up the past few months of our crazy life. Josh is over half-way through his training now, he should be finished in June. We are definitley ready to find a home and settle down! Even though this is a stressful time, it has also been exciting to be able to make steps towards our dream and I know that we are so blessed to have each other and to have our family to support us!

One Year Later

So, it was about a year ago that we were getting ready for Josh to leave for Iraq. I have to say, this was the hardest thing that I have ever been through! Lucky for us, we have some wonderful people in our life that helped us get through it. I just wanted to thank a few of those people......of course, it goes without mentioning-we have THE BEST family ever and I could not have made it without their love and support. I'd also like to thank Summer - she kept me busy last summer and it really helped me keep my mind off of things. Then there is Kira - she and her family were so wonderful and welcoming! Also, Whitney - thanks to her, I always felt like I had a 2nd home to go to whenever I didn't feel like being alone.

Here are a few pictures from last summer:

Here we are at the Lamb house the night before Josh left.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Phillips Family Blog!

It is so hard to keep in touch with all of our family and friends on a regular basis, so I decided to start a blog to help share our life with our loved ones. I also thought it would be really neat for Josh & I to have our memories documented to look back on. So, I hope you are able to check in on our blog every now and then to see how things are going and leave some comments for us to read!
